We had a great time! Everything went pretty smoothly. The Hilton was a perfect place for us to stay because Ben could roam around on his own (pool hopping) without me worrying about him wandering around Honolulu!
Another thing I like about the hotel is that it is very clean – they are constantly sweeping and picking up trash on the grounds – very pretty. The restaurants there are pretty good too. The only negative is that the chairs around the pool area are claimed very early in the day – but that didn’t really matter to me since I’d rather sit in the shade most of the time.
Our room was very basic – older and nothing fancy but a nice ocean view. It was quiet and the beds were VERY comfortable. They did also bring in a rollaway bed and charged us an extra $35/night for it. I didn’t expect that (the extra $35) but you probably told me and I forgot. I think if I stayed there again I would want to find about what rooms are newer/ bigger and not think so much about the view.
The rental car was so cute – a little Chevy HHR (blue) – we named it Dory (from the movie Finding Nemo). Getting and returning the rental car was a breeze.
We found an amazing sushi restuarant I just have to tell you about. Kaiwa – in that big shopping center on Lewers across from the Sheraton. Very modern style and wonderful sushi prepared like works of art.
We also went on a very cool Catamaran cruise that included swimming with the turtles followed by a high speed sail around Diamond Head. I should get you the name. It was very reasonable (they gave us a military discount because Uncle Patrick is active duty in the Navy) and very well run.
